Theatre: The King of the Farandula of the Golden Century of Almería
Descripción
Theatre
The king of the pharandula.
The reign of Philip IV represented the highest apogee of the arts in the Spanish Empire, with figures such as Lope de Vega, Calderón de la Barca, Quevedo and Velázquez shining in court. However, it also marked the beginning of the decline of the empire, with wars, corruption and the decline of the Habsburg House.
In this context, a mysterious and fascinating character emerges, a mixture of actor, comedian, singer and buffoon, which serves as a driving thread in El Rey de la Farandula. Through this Golden Century cabaret, this character - lover, confidant and spy - transports the public between times, revealing secrets and anecdotes of the court of Philip IV. With a sarcastic, provocative and at the same time touching tone, it offers us a human and emotional vision of the monarch and its time.
With an androgenic and baroque aesthetic, accompanied by its inseparable pianist, he will play Renaissance and baroque songs from Monteverdi, José Marín and Juan Hidalgo, as well as contemporary themes. He will receive poems from Quevedo and perform passages from Lope and Calderón, building a versatile, vibrant and graceful show, where the past and present are founded without temporary barriers.
