CDU Centro Deportivo Urbano – Piscina Municipal Juan González Fernández
This facility was opened for the first time on 15 April 2004. Then his name was Juan González Fernández Municipal Pool. It is a swimming pool with a breeze composed of two glasses (one of teaching and another of training-competition of 25 meters). His name, Juan González Fernández (1949 – 2000), is due to a famous rock swimmer, pioneer of this sport in the municipality.
At the time of the inauguration the swimming pool was a great milestone for Roquetas de Mar, which added an important sports complex for the development of the neighbors.
Affordable prices, variety in activities, time flexibility and all age groups represented, philosophy that is currently maintained, prompted the new center to soon be consolidated as a reference space in the sport of the municipality. But it wasn't enough.
The demands of the neighbors and the qualitative and quantitative increase of the sports practice in Roquetas de Mar suggested that the former named Municipal Pool became the Juan González Fernández Urban Sports Center.
The expansion works of the old pool culminated in 2010. The offer of the original complex was improved with the endowment of a covered pavilion with blond, musculation room, cardiovascular exercise room, two rooms for targeted activities, an indoor cycle room, a classroom, three paddle tracks, coffee shop..., which make this small sports town one of the facilities of these most complete and versatile features of the province of Almeria.
Currently the CDU continues to expand its sporting offer.
